BIOV app for iPhone and iPad

An application for designing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) protocols, design PCR experiments and then committing and running the experiments/protocols on the Biovice Systems asynchronous ParaCycler machine.

You can combine any kind of PCR protocol, 2 stage with 3 stage protocols. The protocols can be different melting, annealing, and extension times allowing the device to truely run long PCR protocols in combination with short PCR protocols. New experiments can be added on the fly and started at a later point as well, which means you can run protocols while you are preparing other DNA that you then can run later - and in the meantime you could run a gel to see if the first run came out right.

Another way to described the device is to say that it is 16 independent PCR machines in one device.

The device do have a calorimeter function which is not activated in this version of the app but it will allow you to check the volume in your PCR tubes - we have seen that the device can discriminate less than 1.25 µl difference from start to end of the PCR. The calorimeter function has also been used to discriminate alcohol content between 2-6% in different samples.

Next version of the App will have a simulator included so its possible to run the app in demo mode with simulated data without having the device
